Keep the Airwaves Alive
Renewal help for operators across the Cowboys State and Beyond!
Who are we?
WAVE Exams (Wyoming Amateur Volunteer Examiners) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2025 out of a simple idea: Wyoming communities deserve the same support and opportunities found in larger places. As a 501(c)(3), we operate entirely for public benefit — not profit — which means every dollar, volunteer hour, and resource goes directly toward serving Wyoming’s amateur radio community. Our nonprofit status also ensures transparency, accountability, and a commitment to education and community service at the heart of everything we do.
What started as a local effort quickly revealed a much broader need for accessible, reliable assistance across the state. Here in Wyoming, we all know that convenience isn’t always right around the corner. That’s why WAVE Exams brings together experienced amateur radio operators from across the state — local folks helping local folks — to make the hobby stronger, more connected, and easier to participate in.
This page is designed to give you everything you need to successfully renew your Amateur Radio License. Our goal is to keep you on the air, engaged with your community, and supported every step of the way.
FCC Renewals
You probably have a few questions about the FCC and how the renewal process works. Good news — we’re here to help. The FCC website isn’t exactly known for being user‑friendly, but that’s why we’ve put this guide together. By working through the steps with you, our goal is to make renewing your license as painless, straightforward, and cost‑effective as possible.
And if you get stuck at any point, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re more than happy to walk you through the process and make sure everything gets taken care of smoothly.

Steps
1
We’re going to jump into the FCC License Manager. To get there, simply click the link below:
FCC License Manager: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp
For the easiest experience, you may want to view this guide and the FCC site side by side. You can do that by clicking and dragging the License Manager tab (at the top of your browser window) out to the right to create a separate window, as shown below

2
To log into your FCC License Manager account, you’ll need a couple of key pieces of information — the first is your FRN. There are several ways to find it, and one of the easiest is by using the FCC’s ULS Lookup by Call Sign:
https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/searchLicense.jsp
If you do need any help with this, please let me know, my contact information is in a link above!
3
If you are having some problems with the password side of things, the following link is from the FCC, but will give you the information to either setup your password or have your password reset: https://fccprod.servicenowservices.com/wireless?id=kb_article_view_public&sysparm_article=KB0015795
4
After you have successfully logged in, on the left under “My Licenses” is a link for “Renew Licenses”

5
On the next screen you will choose which licenses you want to renew, to select your license click on the Call Sign on the left box, then choose Add in the middle, once it has been added to the right section click on continue over on the right side.

6
From here, simply continue through the remaining screens, taking a moment to carefully review each section and make sure all of your information is accurate and up to date. The FCC will walk you through the final confirmation steps, and once everything looks correct, you’ll be able to submit your renewal.
Most folks find that the last part of the process goes pretty quickly, but if anything looks confusing, doesn’t match what you expect, or just doesn’t seem right, you’re not on your own. If you run into any issues beyond this point, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m more than happy to walk you through the final steps and make sure your renewal goes through smoothly.
